Problem 1: Color Masterbatch extrusion flow marks, poor surface of the product in the process of masterbatch processing.

Problem 2: The spinning masterbatch is easy to break, poor extruding, and the filtering value is not good.

Reason analysis: The main reason is that the particle size of the color powder is too big or the color powder is not evenly dispersed and agglomerates in a certain direction during the processing.

As shown in Fig. 1, under the test temperature: 235℃; total sample: 1000g; pigment weight: 80g; masterbatch addition: 20%; substrate PP: 80%; filter specification: 1000 mesh test conditions, it can be seen that after the addition of SILIKE silicone hyperdispersant SILIMER6000, SILIMER6400, SILIMER5236 to the masterbatch, the pressure filtration value has been significantly reduced, which shows that the SILIKE silicone hyperdispersant effectively improves the agglomeration phenomenon of the powder, and further improves the dispersibility of the powder. The dispersant can be used to improve the dispersibility of the powder.

Problem 3: The color masterbatch extrusion outlet mould accumulates material, and the equipment cleaning cycle is short.

Reason analysis: Due to the poor compatibility of the color powder and the base material, part of the color powder is easy to be agglomerated after mixing, there is a difference between the fluidity of the color powder and the resin and the viscosity of the melt is big in the process of extrusion, at the same time, there is a viscous effect between the metal extrusion equipment and the resin system, which leads to the dead material in the chamber body and the extrusion of the die mouth, the color powder and the thermoplastic resin are stripped off during the process of extrusion resulting in the mouth and die accumulation of material, and the role between the resin melt and the metal equipment needs to be reduced to avoid such a situation. It is necessary to weaken the interaction between the resin melt and the metal equipment to avoid this situation.

Problem 4: Melt fracture during high-speed extrusion, color powder separation and precipitation.

Reason analysis: As the critical shear rate of the material itself is small when the color powder system is extruded at high speed, there will be serious melt fracture and die build-up problems when extruded at high speed, which will cause separation and precipitation of color powder. Fluoropolymer is a high viscosity polymer in the color powder system in the process of outward migration ability is poor, the improvement effect is relatively general.

Solution: SILIKE PFAS-free PPA processing aids is an organically modified copolymerised polysiloxane masterbatch product that combines polysiloxane chain segments with polar groups, integrating the excellent performance of both, and upgrading the structure at the same time. Fluorine-free PPA adopts modified groups that can combine more strongly with metal screws to replace the role of fluorine in fluorine-containing PPA, and then uses the low surface energy characteristics of silicone to form a silicone film on the surface of the metal equipment to achieve the effect of isolation, which effectively extends the cleaning cycle of the equipment to shorten the downtime, eliminate melt fracture, reduce die build-up, and to improve the role of the quality of the surface. In addition, it also has the characteristics of non-PFAS environmental protection, reduce extrusion torque, improve processing fluidity and so on.

As shown in Figure 2, after the customer used SILIKE PFAS-free Polymer Processing Aids, the same processing time, color powder sticking to the inner wall of the machine has been significantly improved.
